Nawka, Tadeus, Univ.-Prof. Dr. med.

Tadeus Nawka graduated from the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 1979. He is an ENT specialist since 1984 and a specialist in phoniatrics since 1992.
He has been working since 2009 at the department of audiology and phoniatrics at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin.
At present, he is the head of the voice center of the phoniatric department.
From 1999 to 2009 he worked as professor of phoniatrics and pediatric audiology at the University of Greifswald.
He was the head of the Kurt-Singer-Institut for musicians‘ medicine at the Hochschule für Musik “Hanns Eisler”, the Berlin Academy of Music from 2012 to 2014.
Since 2017, he is the president of the European Academy of Phoniatrics (EAP) the educational branch of the Union of the European Phoniatricians (UEP).
Tadeus Nawka was active in the International Association of Logopedics and Phoniatrics as a member of the voice committee from 1998, a board member from 2004, and a member of the executive committee from 2010-2014.
He is one of the editors of the European Manual of Medicine, Phoniatrics, the textbook representing today’s state of the art in phoniatrics.
Among his duties is the care of patients with voice, breathing and swallowing disorders. His main interests is voice with emphasis on diagnostics and therapy, in particular in phonosurgery.
